Does Islamic Financial Development Reduce Carbon Emissions? Evidence from OIC Countries

Islamic finance has great potential in encouraging the development of social and economic infrastructure. The rapid improvement sector increasingly good growth have a positive impact on infrastructure Countries Organization Cooperation (OIC). study analyzed financial CO2 emissions 12 OIC countries including United Arab Emirates, Indonesia, Jordan, Kazakhstan, Kuwait, Lebanon, Malaysia, Nigeria, Pakistan, Saudi Arabia, Sudan Turkey from 2013 to 2018. dependent variables used are emissions, while independent include GDP per capita, Sukuk issuance, total sharia-compliant, energy consumption, industry value-added. Panel Corrected Standard Error (PCSE) method robustness using Newey-West standard error model. Results showed that capita value added significantly increased emissions. Conversely, namely issuance sharia-compliant negative significant This research suggests for policymakers further encourage sustainable efficiency renewable production consumption reduce maintain environmental quality.
